Having previously engaged Clean Agency to perform sustainability assessment work, Mattel reached out to Clean when direct action by Greenpeace made the company aware of controversial fiber sources in their packaging supply chain.
Using our expertise in sustainable forest product management, Clean supported Mattel in the development a new sustainable sourcing policy and strategy. Clean worked with Mattel to articulate both short term and long term goals for more responsible sourcing of paper and fiber. Greenpeace has since lauded Mattel for their quick and concerted action to implement responsible paper procurement practices. With Clean’s support, Mattel was able to turn a negative into a positive, by showing strong industry leadership in the area of responsible sourcing.
